Negeri Sembilan Is The Champions Of Malaysia Cup 2011

Ecstatic fans of Malaysia Cup champions Negeri Sembilan can view the cup at close range when it is paraded in all the districts soon.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan who is also Negeri Sembilan Football Association (NSFA) president said the cup, the glory of national football, would be paraded just like when the state became champions in 2009.

"This time we will make it more proper as we want to ensure that all fans and the people of Negeri Sembilan can view the cup which is coveted by all state teams in this country," he told reporters after a ceremony to celebrate the Malaysia Cup together with officers, the squad and more than 500 fans at Wisma PBNS here today.

Negeri Sembilan won the 85th edition of Malaysia Cup after beating Terengganu 2-1 in the final at Shah Alam Stadium last night.

The last time Negeri Sembilan won the cup was in 2009 after beating Kelantan 3-1 at Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Last year, Negeri Sembilan lost 1-2 to Kelantan in the Malaysia Cup final at the same stadium.

Mohamad said the Malaysia Cup is a prestigious cup and the oldest contested in the country.

"As such, we want to give the opportunity to the people to view it close up while our players can also meet their fans," he said.

Asked when the cup would be paraded, he said it would be carried out as soon as possible.

In the mean time, the cup would be exhibited at Wisma PKNS here.

Asked about rewards for the players, he said the issue would be discussed at the NSFA council meeting
